I used to think that any coursework presentation is SCARY. I was struggling back in Jan this year when I needed to decide which modules to take for this final semester. I had a choice between Children, Parents and the State (Part of Family Law),Environmental Law, International Human Rights Law, Sexuality and the Law. Tough decision huh... I made Johnny to take a guess of my final choice out of those four modules. And he chose Sexuality and the Law =) A wrong but definitely Good Guess... I gave up that module cuz I know I would not produce a piece of judgement for a case which is the required coursework! hahaa... so I chose International Human Rights Law instead... 40% group presentation, 60% individual written coursework.
My group presentation was in relation to the mandate and function of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; which is one of the independent body under the United Nation. Brandon, Hathif and me had to draw our choice of the issues to be discussed on. I had to prepare on the efficiency of the working of the Committee. I spent most of the time searching for information through the internet, and we even went to the University of Oxford's Bodleian Library which claimed to be the largest and oldest library in the UK on Saturday for approximately 2hours (only!! cuz it was vacation time for oxford Uni, the library closes at 12.30pm :/ ), searched for some books especially useful for our bibliography of the 800 words summary for the presentation.
After handed in the summary on Tuesday 21/03 at the law office, we then proceeded to prepare our presentation power point slides. We only get down once to 'discuss' the issues involved, that was when we did the LUCKY DRAW session. Basically, we went our way in completing our own part and then we joint the 3 parts together. Yes, it does went quite well indeed. We had 23 slides in total. We had the latest version of power point slides background downloaded from the internet (thanks Brandon), we had our cases of each procedures involved in the Committee's functions discussed properly (thanks to Hathif), and lastly, we had the critical examination of the efficiency of the Committee (Can I say THANKS to Myself??)... we had some pictures and few quotes as well... we presented for bout 25mins and ended nicely. However, there was no questioning time as the next seminar group would come in to do their presentation...
Anyway, I think we did a good job. Really, I have never felt such high satisfaction for my presentation before. Recalling the presentation I had for Law & Morality during year 2, I was rather nervous and unprepared back then. Though I have to speak to most Mat Salleh over here, especially where my lecturer is Dr. Penelope Simons (Canadian)... but I was more prepared this time... and I did it! Yeah! Crossing Fingers for my marks... to be good, if not high... hehee :)
