Heard of this movie more than half a year ago, only now it screens in Malaysian cinema... Wait till my neck also long long liao... hahaa... I was lucky enough to over heard the interview of Slyvia Chang (张艾嘉) on My FM last week, and couldnt wait to watch this fabulous show... so i asked my sisters to watch together gether... Missed the chance to watch it on Monday as my sister forced me to watch it after 4pm in order to send her to TTDI after dinner time. As i wait and wait... no mood to get outta house under the hot sun... so give up that day's plan...
Supposed to do Law & Morality coursework, but ended up did nothing the whole day, cuz i havent achieve what i wanted to do... and i told Eve bout it, she told me to watch the show the next day or i wont get anything done either. Ok... so i arranged my plan nicely and bring lovely jie jie and mei mei along... ofcuz, we watched the earliest slot at 12pm. hehee... Rice Rhapsody falls under the 'international' screens category... so only available in MidValley...

Hainan (Hi-Nahn) Chicken Rice is one of the staples of Singaporean cuisine, a Chinese risotto sizzled in a pan and simmered in chicken stock, glistening with chicken essence and fragrant with ginger, every grain plump and separate yet chewy and bursting with juice.
After being abandoned by her husband twelve years earlier, Jen (Sylvia Chang: "Eat Drink Man Woman", "The Red Violin". Best Actress of Hong Kong Film Awards 2002 - "Forever and Ever"), raised her three sons alone. She uses her mother's secret Hainan Chicken Rice recipe and opened a restaurant to support the family.
Her two older sons, Daniel and Harry are gay. As a woman with traditional values, Jen is fretful that she would have no grandchildren, if Leo, too, turns out to be gay.
Together she and her best friend, Kim Chui (Martin Yan: famous Chinese cuisine TV chef "Yan Can Cook") device a plan to keep Leo straight by bringing in a French exchange student to live with them. She is Leo's age and her name is Sabine. Leo develops a strange but intriguing relationship with her, which greatly pleases Jen.
However, things begin to crumble for her again when Kim Chui becomes "the toast of the town" with his invention of a new dish deeply challenging her Chicken Rice. Kim Chui becomes a national celebrity overnight, and Jen's self-esteem is threatened.
Finally, their conflicts come to a head when Jen participates in a cooking contest with Kim Chui and other chefs from Singapore. Food unexpectedly becomes a medium that not only nourishes their bodies but also opens their hearts...
It is a touching story though off a little comedy... three of us tears down near the end of the show... perhaps a good movie I would like to recomment for mother's day... hahaa... bring ur mama to cinema to watch... then all might ended up tearing (it's HAPPY tears :p) together on mother's day lor...hehee... My mum rejected my invitation that day... she preferred to watch it at home... so I hope to get the VCD, if not DVD asap for her...
Another most recommented movie from Slyvia is Forever and Ever 地久天长... directed by Raymond To in 2001 based on a true story of a young man's battle with AIDS.

平凡的慧珍女士，回憶起兒子小富，一位了不起的青年作家（筆名：子鶩）， 聰敏英俊，文章充滿活力及朝氣，每秒都在追尋燦爛的生命，但他抓不緊生命 。小富是天生的血友病患者，因血液欠缺凝固功能，令身體不能承受絲毫損傷 ，否則便有生命危險。
小富喜歡與其他小孩看齊，追跑跳碰缺一不可，無可避免地，小富因經常損傷，變成了醫院常客。為讓小富過著正常生活，慧珍充當醫生，拿起針筒給兒子注射血凝素，隨時給兒子提供治療。其實，任誰也不能了解，每次的治療，都是徘徊生死的經歷，這對於母子二人來說，絕不好受，但小富總算能成長，惡運彷似已離他們而去。一天，醫院傳來壞消息，部份血凝素已遭受愛滋病毒感染…
I played this movie for the 4th time during the first day of CNY this year, and all 5 ladies in my house, mummy + her 4 daughthers were tearing a 'pool' out!! hahaa... i got scolding from them in the end cuz of such 'appropriateness' of the movie on that very special day... yeah, check these two movies out if u have not seen them yet... I dont watch movies for the fun of 'watching' them... but to learn the moral or true values behind the stories on the screens... many were stated expressly but more were the innuendo, if u could catch them! I believe normal human would not regret to watch them :p hehehee...
So i have finished the Abortion & The Incompetence coursework for Law and Morality, just submitted it around 1pm this noon... and watched the movie... and get to post pictures here... and i shall begin my original duty now... or i would get more scolding for many people soon... hehee... have a good day people! ;-)
