MOOTING COMPETITION FINALS
Phew~ Finally i could breathe a liltle fresh air now... was kinda busy in organising the Mooting Competition (btw, mooting is a legal debate, if u have not comes to this term before ;)) since last month... and it ended wonderfully this noon. Special thanks to Evelyne, Michelle, Siew Hui, Miow Yen, Sean, Brian, Azlan, Jonathan, Jack, Shamini and Sarah, who helped me and my partner, Weng Tchung throughout this whole successful event, from the preliminary rounds right up to the finals... Thanks a million! The event would not have been running on so smoothly without ur help! ;)

I must say that it is not easy at all to be an organiser... Weng Tchung handled the internal matters, like look for judges, deal with mooters, prepare the Q, etc... whilst i had to deal with all external matters, design posters, order for trophies, prepare souvenirs for judges, and the drinks (mineral water) for judges + mooters in all matches etc...

I could have cried in the process of getting the trophies done... The shop is located at Pertama Kompleks (next to Sogo). U see? It's such a long way from PJ or even Kepong. And I had to travelled SIX times just to get the seven trophies done!

1. It took me some time to look for that small shop in the complex Pertama architecture... I really wonder who was the architect who designed the building! I told the woman (the owner)about the budget of the trophies and ordered for Best mooter, 3 champions and 3 runners-up. She confidently told me to go back there on the following week to see the real samples. When the day came, i called (luckily i did... if not...) her asked if the samples were ready and guess what? She forgotten about it and was guessing around on how many trophies did i order the other day! Then she said i could go down 2 days later to check them out.

2. 2 days later, i had the help from Weng Tchung who fetched me there (as i have no any car to use). To my dissapointment, the 'sample' was merely all separate pieces of the plastic, i mean it was not a proper / full sample that i was expected to see. Ok... then as for the base, it was smaller than the body of the trophies... can u imagine that? It's like an alien... with BIG HEAD but small body... it doesn't match at all! Then we requested for a bigger base which is in fact suit the trophies perfectly. But, for this, we had to pay additional sum of money! :S Alright, we paid the deposit and could collect the trophies on 29/3, and to bring our logo upon collecting.
Oh ya! Not forgetting to thank WT for his kindness here, he actually fetched me to Sg. Wang to get my stuffs also... thanks for ya time dude!

3. 29/3... I was excited to want to see the end results. I called the woman again... and...
Me:"... are the mooting competition trophies ready yet?"
Woman: "No. It's not ready..."
Me:"... so when can i get it?"
Woman:"ah... remember u r supposed to give me ur logo? U must give me few days to do the logo also... "
Me:"erm... i tot u said the logo can be done in few hours that day?"
Woman:"No...no... U R WRONG!! IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!!..."

4. April 4... i called woman again... and finally heard something positive! The trophies were ready but i have to give them the logo... I took KTM from Kepong station to Bank Negara station, walked for 10 minutes under the hot sun, just to hand a piece of digital coloured printing over. Expected to collect them the next day. I then walked back to the KTM station, and bought the ticket to Mid Valley... to reward myself on the tired day... watched White Noise with sis and her friends... After that we went to Pudu to have our dinner...

5. April 5, i brought my fellow sisters along to collect the trophies. We reached there around 10.30am and guess what again? I saw the woman's husband was holding that piece of paper (the one with logo printed on it which i gave them yesterday noon)... measuring the picture size on a puncher... meaning that they have not even started on it k... and asked us to wait for 20minutes. Fine, we would just wait while walking around to check out some lugages and bags at nearby shops... When we got back later, he was quickly wrapping them up with newspaper and put them in two plastic bags for me. I paid the balance hurriedly (as Eve and Mic were waiting in car) and rushed back to my car at the side of the main road at the back entrance of Pertama.
At night, i took off one of wrapping newspaper and shocked to see that the runners-up trophies were soooooooo ugly! They 'matched' silver colour for the top and gold colour in the middle! ARGHHH!!! WHAT IS THIS??! Why on earth that such matches of colour on a trophy exists?! No Way! And i called the woman the next day and...
Me:"...erm... why is it that the runners-up trophies are in two colours? I thought the whole trophy should be in silver?"
Woman:" No... No... No... U R WRONG!! The middle parts are all in gold color... so if u want the runners-up to be in silver, so i have to give u like that..."
Me:" (what the hell mann... r u a business-man or not?!) erm.... but they looked so weird (u see? i used the word weird instead of UGLY!) now... erm... is it possible to to put the whole trophy in gold since the plat is different color...?"
Woman:"ah...ok... u bring them back and i can do it for u..."
Me:" and also, the Best Mooter trophy..."
Woman:" ...it all came out is it?"
Me:"yeah... so..." (She knew better that the quality of their products!!!)
Woman:"ok...bring it also we'll do it for u..."
I dont understand... Why didnt she tell me that all the middle parts are only in gold color anytime before this? Obviously i would not want such weird trophies even 'born' into this world mann! hahaa! Even if i had checked them before i left the shop after collected them, i would still need to travel for another time to collect them rite... since i was already there anyway but could not collect them as well on April 5! sigh!
6. April 9, Needed WT's help again to send the 3 weird-o back to that shop. Thanks again dude!
7. April 11, no classes on... Called that woman again... and 'happy' to know that the one-last-final-final-time of the trophies were done and went to get them in the morning... Finally... everything LOOKED fine at that moment... Who knows, after fetching sis to her previous high school, she brought me turned AROUND KL roads simply because she thought she knew the (not usual)way to get home! hah! i'm not familiar with KL roads though, but she could have just asked me to make an u-turn to follow the ordinary way... :S
I dont know how to calculate the total time and money spent on petrol and toll as well as energy just to get that few trophies done COMPLETELY (is not perfectly ya...).
hmm... comes to the souvenirs for judges, we bought liltle hourglass for them as an appreciation for their precious time spent on judging the moots from preliminary to finals. I wrote the messeges on a small card and placed them at both ends. Hopefully they like it :)
LAUNCHING OF KDU MOOT COURT
In a very short period that i was informed about the opening ceremony would to be on just before the finals started. I met up with Ms Christine and Mr Foong to discuss on this matter on this Tuesday. I needed florist to make the ribbon ball and so happened that one of Eve's fren's mother is good at this and she helped me out with this part. WOnderful! Then i had to get a pretty tray-gal to do some simple work during the opening ceremony and prize giving ceremony... and this gal is Siew Hui... one of my junior in uk programme. Also, Michelle came so early today just to bring the "ti-gong-cloth" over....hehehhee.... Thanks alot gals!
Out of no where suddenly, i wonder where was Karen actually... Eve and Mic did helped me out here and there... where were u la? Bad... bad.... :p
Everything turned out fine and both Launching and Mooting competition Finals were a successful one! At least, i think it is! Thank U people and especially Weng Tchung too!...and... I'm EXHAUSTED actually...

It was an absolute pleasure and honour to work with you as organizers :)

Btw the pics really look great. Reminds me of all the trouble we both went through to make this possible haha. But then again, it was all worth it right?

Cheers :D

Innerflame7, it was good enough to have entered finals though... U have the experience that most of us would not have, ie REAL mooting skills which are vital in future practice... be glad of that oh...
CONGRATULATION once again and WE ARE PROUD OF U BOTH!!! (I really mean it!)

I saw the challenge trophy in our department, and it is so badly done :( The logos were peeling off like they had been stuck using saliva. Suggest you underline the name of that shop in red and throw away that woman's business card. There are better trophy shops in the Kelana Jaya area.
