May Day - Welcomed the Summer
Such a nice name to replace 'Labour Day' which I used to know...
Got some informations from Susan, my flat's cleaner who comes in every morning to help us clean the kitchen, toilets, shower room and corridor (she's a really nice lady and the perfect cleaner), that the Magdelene Bridge would be closed down for the celebration of May Day. She told me to get there before 6am if i were to experience something different here, as the choir starts singing at that time.
I have Brandon to join me this morning. It had been raining since 2200 last nite, and continue when we met at 5.20am. Btw, I was up for the past 30hours to do my International Human Rights coursework on Women's rights before the early walk :) Anyway, we thought this May Day better be worth for both of us to get out that early!
After about 30mins, we reached Magdelene Bridge...
Early Birds... only the Rains for u yeah?
Police in Action... COOL~
U must be wondering what's the rational behind setting up this block at Magdelene Bridge yeah?
There was an act which has been practicing by most youngsters here over hundreds of year, to JUMP INTO THE RIVER while the Choir is singing at the Magdelene Church. No one know any specific reason for them in doing that... it could be just for the FUN of it... and many of these 'risk challengers' were injured and some even in serious conditions. Thus, to prevent this from happening again, the police closed the bridge and open for public access until after 6.30am (that's when the choir's done).
Yes, this is the River...
Well, if u still wanna JUMP into the river after the public access from 6.30am onwards... think twice before u do it though...
Find a best way to escape from ALL of them should do...
-No kidding... It's a real big issue in Oxford!
It was all empty streets after all... Quiet and fresh...
Then we came across the Bodleian Old Library... the happening Scottish songs and dance... and then... this group of talented percussionists... I was stuck there for at least 20 mins... really love it... the drumsssssssssss... how I wished I could be in that group too *sob sob*
As the Sun was out at bout 8.07am... we thought it would be great to take a walk on this sunny morning...through Southpark... back to warneford... Ofcourse, I would never miss any chance of taking those colourful flowers... *please check out for my Next coming up entry*
The Southpark..
