Wonderful Day!

On 20th Jan 05 >>>

1. Court Visit

The law society had organised a trip to visit Kuala Lumpur High Court, i.e. Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samat, opposite Dataran Merdeka. We had about 180 law students; and devided into two groups of 90 person for this two days (19th & 20th Jan) trip. I was rather worried bout the court visit today, as I told earlier that there wont be enough courts/cases for all 90 person (per day) to have the hearing at the same time, wondered what can the others who cant go into the court would do during that 2 hours. Loitering around the building or make their own way to Central Market / Petaling Street? If so, they will definately make tons of complains on how unorganised the trip was, ect... Luckily, it was quite a successful one though we did have a liltle problem when we reached there, but it was sorted out in a while (phew!) and all students were separated into smaller groups to enter different court rooms as they find them.
Sarah, Karen, Michelle, Eve and Me walked around 1st floor to look for any court with cases on, eventually found one, i.e. Mahkamah Dagang. We opened the door and saw lawyers and chambers who were seated on, as if they were just waiting for the judge to come in. Our dear Karen actually made a liltle blunder here (which i shall not mention here, else i'd get her punch!), which wasnt her own step anyway, cuz people behind her asked her to take that step. But nevermind, Karen, we shall not remember that for any time ok...?hehee...
As we were entering the court, I overheard one of the lawyer actually said:"oh!we have visitors today. But they gonna feel dead bored in here..." but i dont care that much now, since i havent been into any court yet. We sat for bout 15mins and it seemed that really nothing special gonna happen there, except for those lawyers talking/ chit chating there. When we were about to move on to another court, one of the lawyers from appellant council approached us. He's Azlarry, 35 year-old, from one of the law firm in Bangsar. He is pretty friendly and answered some questions which we throwed at him regarding subjects matter in LL.B course and C.L.P. He strongly advised us, lady, to work as legal adviser in any big companies rather than being a solicitor. He said life being a practice lawyer is not that easy and ladies are worthwhile to not practice and find a less work, yet good pay job. hmm, i shall deeply consider this point now :-)
That case was on issues in Company Law. One of the director of the appellant's company had suffered a stroke, half paralyzed now and claimed a sum of RM247,000 from the respondant's company. The jugde, Victor Ng said that the amount was quite nominal and they could actually settle it outside the court plus not wasting the court's time! Since both parties were not fully prepared, they applied a leave to postpone the next trial a month later (to 10th March). We left before the case ended. But one interesting point i'd like to raise here is that, the judge is actually quite humour...
at the beginning of the case, we suddendly heard someone who talked very loudly on the phone outside the court room. (Ms. x = one of the court clerk; Y= the man on the phone)
His Lordship: "x, please tell Y not to speak so loud. The judge should speaks louder in court! How can he speaks louder than the judge?!"
Later, when one of the appellant council was supposed to give His Lordship her name, perhaps she was nervous and this happened...
Appellant Council : " ...Yang arif, the papers are in order...."
His Lordship: "I'm not interested to know whether ur papers are in order or not. I just want to know whether u are 'cik' or 'puan'?"

Below is the part of the respondent council...
Respondent Council: "Pihak respondent telah menghubungi mereka...."
His Lordship: " Pihak respondent berbunyi mereka?!"
Respondent Council: " Yang Arif, pihak respondent telah MENGHUBUNGI mereka...."
His Lordship: "Oh! Menghubungi... i thought berbunyi... that's why... How can they "sound" at them...."

In all three situations, everyone including the court clerks, both parties' councils, chambers, the police and us(visitors) all had a little laughter there. After all, i find that judges are not as distant or unapproachable as i have thought of... though i have never deal with them face to face yet, but at least i feel warmer rather than 'scary' feeling when seeing His Lordship from far... *solute*

2. Kajang Ride
As we have planned, we bump into 2 cars separately (Eve + me; Mich + Karen) as soon as when we back in college after the court visit and headed towards Sg. Chua, Kajang. Mich recommended the claypot pan-mee, claypot chicken pepper soup and claypot extra spicy pork for us. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO delicious and i couldnt help myself and finish all the ginger pieces in the pepper soup. WOW!! gonna visit here for the second time soon, i think. My mum and sisters gonna like it as much as i love it lo! Yummy! Yummy!
Then we stopped at a fruite stall to get fresh coconut drinks for Karen who had gum ache. It was either to bring back the whole coconut, or drink it at the stall. There was no ta-bao service. So we brought 3 coconuts for RM5 home and started to open it on our own. I had to do it cuz they have never open coconut drinks before. It was not easy to 'deal' with OLD coconuts! "coconut drinks with sweats, My sweats...hahah!" However, we managed to drink FRESH one, and kinda fun to do that esp at other people's house. hehee! At the end, Mich + Me had to clean up the place. Or else, Mich gonna get good lesson from her parents!
Then, we actually wanted to have Kajang satay at a restaurant near Mich's house. But because of me, we all had to ta-bao satay home. Apparently i had an appointment with 2 sisters to watch The Unborn (still remember i won 2 tickets?) at GSC Mid Valley. The show was at 1700 and i was still in Kajang at 1600. Luckily Eve was willing to fetch me there and made my move much more easier. Thanks alot!! ;-)
3. The Unborn
We (3 sisters) had the Kajang Satay at McD near GSC. hahaa! It was quite weird though, in particularly with eyes looking at u. I thought we would have get some scolding but nothing happened. Good! Then we moved on to GSC.
The Unborn was quite good... erm, i actually took a 5 mins nap in between .. Dont get me wrong! it wasn't bored, i was just too tired and fall asleep only...really... Fortunately, neither did i 'imagine' the scenario again when i was taking my bath just now, [cuz 'she' appears only when there is water]~(ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!) nor that i had nightmare after watching it... hehee...
