Penang Trip

I had a chance to join the Summers Singer (a group of choir based in KL) for 2days 1night trip to Penang on last Friday. They had a performance on that night and i was the camera-lady for my own camera and one of its member. My sister is in the choir...

A total of about 23 people sat in a bus which could fit 44 person. So u can imagine how 'comfortable' that would be ya? I mean it... really comfortable though it took about 6hours to reach Penang from Kepong (we departed from Kepong at 8.30am :p) We stopped at Rawang and Sg. Perak for a 'pee-break' and reached Penang at about 3pm on the sunny Friday noon. After an hour break at Hotel Continental, the Summers Singer had to prepare themselves for their performance of the night, at Level 5 of Komtar. But before that, ofcourse, we had to 'keep-our-stomach-quiet/shut' first... and the organiser prepared an 8course meal for us at a Chinese Restaurant at 59th floor of Komtar... yeah... it's 59th! One floor higher we would be at the highest building in Penang... (if i'm not mistaken :p)

After a quick dinner, we had to rush to 5th floor for their rehearsal, at about 7pm.

The rehearsal
The night began with a talk from Mr. Lau who likes and did researches on human's voice (声乐). He explained the technicality of the working of vocal cords and how could considered as good voice or rather, good singing... erm, its kinda absurd though, I do understand what he demonstated, but couldnt do what he said... sigh... if i were to be one of his student, i guess he would have kicked me out for no-talent at all... hahaa... Anyway, the important point is, The Summers Singer did exactly what he wants... excellent!!

ohya, it was his birthday too that day. And he said the best present for him was to know that his students has improved alot :)

Happy Ending!!
After the performance, we were invited to eat supper at a nearby chinese coffee shop and then returned to hotel supposed to have a good sleep of the tiring day 1. Ya... everybody else did that except my sis, wei liet, gou rong (the 'driver') and me... Mr Driver (not the bus driver k... he drove Nissan X-Trial) drove us out at 1.30am to Gurney Drive, some dam, the chinese temple and batu ferringhi, so on... i dun really know where exactly we were, cuz it was so dark and Mr. Driver drove really fast... all i know was we were all tired and need a good sleep... we got back to hotel at 3.15am... though we could sleep straight away? No way... there were duet and solo singing of all 'down/blue' songs before we could really sleep... and that was until 4am... slept for about 4hours and got up, gathered at 8.30am at the lobby, checked out, and began the half-day trip of Penang Island... ...
1st destination:

This is not at seaside ok... just a view of the sea... well, i purposely took this 'typical type' of a sea view... remember when i was a child, i used to draw picture of a-coconut-tree-by-the-seaside for any drawing entitled 'free-drawing', meaning, draw whatever u want to... hahaa...
opposite this sea-view, is the Fort Cornwallis...

2nd destination:

we stopped at the Dhammikarama Burmese Temple and Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram (Thai temple as in the picture) for about an hour after the 30 minutes of Suffolk House visit
3rd destination:

That's right! Batu Ferringhi! and, we arrived here around 1.30pm and 8 monkeys were happy enough to play air-ball at the volley ball court on the sand! hahaa... i tell u, it was superb hot as though we were some mat-salleh there to have sun-bathing... yeah... but it was really fun to play under the hot sun once a while... espcially at special place with special friends...

Horse ridding at the seaside... anybody?
4th and the Last destination: Kek Lok Shi
Didnt take any pictures up there... hmm... just bought a small set of mahjong... really cute... only RM10...
The Way Home...
left Penang around 3pm on Saturday. Although the trip was a quick one... but i find it very meaningful... both ways, the Summers Singer sang many songs and made the journey fun without boringness... also, we watched Mr. Holland's Opus and The Phantom of the Opera in the bus... so i didnt feel the distance of the journey at all...
As it was slow moving / a little jam at the Penang Bridge when we headed home... so i took the oppurtunity to take some of the pictures below from the inside of the bus... The colour was a little brownish originally from the camera, as i couldnt use flashes which would reflected on the glass and make the picturers unseenable at all...
